Oral Component to the Cultural Project

DRAWING CLASS CULTURAL PROJECT

By Monday May 3rd RESEARCH and BRING IN NOTES to prepare for an oral presentation in class.

TOPIC: The role of artists in the culture you are studying.

Where do you start when you look for information? First, consider what an artist does? Artists do more than paint, sculpt and build buildings. They design city plans, they design and make clothing, they create functional objects, decorative objects, or structures. This is just a small list of what an artist does in a society. Find specifics about your culture in particular.

Research to find 10 roles of artists in the culture you are studying and include a VISUAL example of each (for example when you talk to the class share one of the images you drew in your sketch book).

Your information should be organized in a LIST.

Welcome to Semester 2!

This semester we will start out with Mrs. Carson discussing gesture drawing on Day 1. After that I will have you draw faces using a face photocopied from a magazine. We will discuss proportions and shading. I cut the magazine faces in half, you will complete the other half. The face rubric is included on the website under KEY DOCUMENTS.

We will move on to perspective after the unit on the human figure.
