Oral Component to the Cultural Project

DRAWING CLASS CULTURAL PROJECT

By Monday May 3rd RESEARCH and BRING IN NOTES to prepare for an oral presentation in class.

TOPIC: The role of artists in the culture you are studying.

Where do you start when you look for information? First, consider what an artist does? Artists do more than paint, sculpt and build buildings. They design city plans, they design and make clothing, they create functional objects, decorative objects, or structures. This is just a small list of what an artist does in a society. Find specifics about your culture in particular.

Research to find 10 roles of artists in the culture you are studying and include a VISUAL example of each (for example when you talk to the class share one of the images you drew in your sketch book).

Your information should be organized in a LIST.

Impressionism and LACMA

I typed a reflection based upon your classwork and the upcoming museum visit. The Impressionism Artwork and the reflection are due to me NO LATER THAN class on Friday 4-23-10. The reflection MUST be typed.

DO Look over the reflection questions prior to the museum visit, or else you will have a difficult time completing it. Some of the questions can be completed now, others not until you visit the exhibition.

The document is saved on the class website under KEY DOCUMENTS.

Fourth Quarter Starts Tuesday April 13th

Everyone needs to stay on track with the assignments from the fourth quarter so that the year ends on a STRONG note. We will start out with colored pencils...Impressionists work. Make sure you read the information from a previous blog about Impressionism.

A cultures project will be explained this week and start next week. Remember that Ms. Carson leaves her room open for you before school (from 6:30 on), at lunch (except for her lunch duty day) and after school. Take advantage of the extra time if you miss class or need more time to complete an assignment. Creative projects, like reading novels, take a different amount of time for each person...only so much time is allotted in class.

See everyone tomorrow.

Field trip April 20th...NEXT TUESDAY

do not forget to tell your teachers and coaches about the trip!! Arrange to make up work AHEAD of TIME!
